All our programs are
chosen and prepared by our Design Team student leadership group.
Thursday Nights - Thursday nights are a
special time at Wesley. We begin
our weekly meetings at 5:30 PM with quiet prayer and Holy Eucharist. Dinner follows at 6 PM, prepared by Wesley students or local
churches. The fellowship program begins at seven following
announcements. Various evenings
will include a fun night, a guest speaker or two, and we will end the
semester with our Advent/Christmas service of Lessons and Carols.
Sunday Evening
Worship –
Our Sunday evening worship services are especially designed for the life
of a busy student. Services are held every Sunday night at 7pm in the Wesley chapel. All
are welcome, whether a regular at Wesley or not, and the dress is casual.
Small Groups and
Bible Studies
- Wesley offers small groups for people interested in a specific aspect of
faith, fellowship or spiritual growth. These opportunities allow students
to explore that specific topic in an in-depth setting. Each semester new
topics are selected, which usually meet once a week in the afternoon or
evening. Some last all semester like Exodus - the small group for seniors
– or Genesis – the group for first-year students - while others last just
a few weeks like the Lenten prayer meditation group. Small groups are a
great way to get to know your fellow Wesleyans and to challenge yourself
spiritually.
Work Team - Work teams are Wesley’s unique
mission trip experiences. Each year work teams seek to expand Wesley’s
horizons in outreach ministries, to expose students to differing forms of
service and to promote awareness about the needs of God’s world around
us. Work team trips take place over
fall, winter and spring breaks.
Students work all year to fundraise and plan for the year’s trips.
Spring Break 2007 we
will travel to Panama. Details TBA.
Retreats - Wesley retreats are an
opportunity for students to get away for a weekend of spiritual growth
and fellowship. Fall retreat is usually at Emerald Isle; spring retreat
takes us to the Blue Ridge of Virginia.
Students plan the retreats which are always engaging, interesting
and challenging.
Retreat for first-year students will be held on Saturday,
August 25 at 5pm at Wesley.
